F. Kennedy High School Students Selected
Members of the Junior Academy of Science
Three POBJFKHS students were recently selected to become members of the Junior Academy of Science. Research sophomores Jeff Hwang, Safia Mirza and Julia Park will join students ages 13 to 19 years old from around the world with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) talent to participate in events and receive mentoring with the Academy. The Junior Academy is a virtual program for exceptional students interested in STEM that provides access to a community of student peers from across the globe and mentoring from leading STEM practitioners.
Each year, Junior Academy students compete in global challenges to solve real-world problems with the chance to win cash prizes and an all-expenses paid trip to New York City for a two-day summit. Once accepted into the program, participants in The Junior Academy become Junior Members of The New York Academy of Sciences, which entitles them to free access to selected Academy content and a digital Membership Certificate. The students will be expected to dedicate approximately two hours per week to the Junior Academy.
