Felix Pitre Leads Workshop for Students and Teachers
Plainview-Old Bethpage was recently visited by Felix Pitre, an artist from the Kennedy Center. Mr. Pitre drew on his extensive experience in theater and the arts to lead a workshop that focused on enriching Spanish-language instruction. His seminar included lessons on breaking down the fourth wall to engage audience members, bilingual drama, singing and puppetry. "I was very impressed with the way Felix taught the workshop," said POB's Chairperson of Foreign Languages Carmen Campos. "His instruction gave teachers and students great ideas on how to enrich our curriculum moving forward."
The Plainview-Old Bethpage School District is the only district in New York State that is a Kennedy Center Partner in Education. The workshop was made possible through the efforts of the District's partnership with Hofstra and Gold Coast Arts.
