POBJFK Jazz Ensemble Participates in Festival at C.W. Post
Students Perform for Panel, Meet Famous Musicians
Student-musicians from the Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School (POBJFK) Jazz Ensemble recently participated in a jazz festival at C.W. Post College. The festival was directed by Professor Talib Kibwe (T.K.) Blue, professional musician and Director of Jazz Studies at C.W. Post.
The students performed for an adjudication panel featuring some of the top names in jazz and participated in a number of workshops. They were even treated to a performance by legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock.
Following the festival, Professor Blue and pianist Carlton Holmes visited the John F. Kennedy High School and conducted a master class for the students. This incredible experience celebrated the great American art form of jazz and gave the students a chance to meet and learn from some of the greatest musicians in the country.
